A four-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bus outside a hospital in Kent. The tragedy happened outside Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother Hospital in Margate at around 4pm on Thursday, Kent Police said.
Zaahir Jan had been visiting his grandmother in the hospital. It is said he left the hospital on foot before the collision took place. He was taken back inside the hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after.
Kent Police said Zaahir was hit by a white single decker bus which was travelling near the entrance to the A&E department.
A GoFundMe was launched by Zaahir's mother to help cover the costs of his funeral.
Azaria Green described her son as a "sweet, funny boy with a cheeky smile that could make anyone’s heart full".
Writing on the GoFundMe page, she said: "I didn’t even get to tell you how much I love you.
"Please if anyone can help us to make his burial as beautiful as he was please I will be so grateful. Everyone is devastated but that word doesn’t feel like enough to explain how we are all feeling."
Investigators from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
