Joanna Lumley admitted she is "lucky to be alive" as the Absolutely Fabulous actress opened up about mortality. The 79-year-old spoke candidly in a new interview as she pondered on her life and shared she planned to spend more time with her loved ones as we "don't know when that day will come". The Wednesday actress revealed she recently visited a school friend in Wiltshire whom she had not seen for 65 years. The on-screen star also said she wanted to enjoy more downtime with her beloved husband Stephen Barlow. The couple have been married since 1986 and have been together for over 40 years.

Speaking in a new interview with HELLO! Joanna opened up about ageing. "Positive ageing? The truth is, even when you’re four, you’re ageing!" she admitted. "They mean becoming decrepit and being quite jolly about it. I do feel positive about ageing, because it’s inevitable. And if things are going to happen, face it with cheerfulness. I’m jolly lucky to be alive, and still be working, and still learning."

Addressing her "secret hopes" is to spend time with the loved ones who matter most to her.

"You don’t know when the day is going to come when they’ve gone, they’ve gone or they’ve gone", she said, counting people off on her fingers.

The working actress added she planned to spend more time with her other half and escaping to their "little cottage in Scotland" whenever she begins to feel overloaded.

The iconic actress has captivated audiences in roles across The New Avengers, Sapphire and Steel, Absolutely Fabulous, Finding Alice, and Motherland, earning her place as television royalty.

Meanwhile, Joanna is the latest British addition to the Netflix series Wednesday.

In the show's second season the actress brings wickedly witchy flair as Morticia’s formidable, fashionista mother and the owner of a lucrative mortuary empire, Grandmama Hester Frump.

"Hester is anarchic, rich and powerful, and her trade is graveyards and burial chambers," shares Joanna, recently seen in the hit comedy Amandaland.

"She had huge abilities, but says she’s retired them — although she can occasionally fish them out of the deep and use her second-sight abilities. She's the ideal person to direct Wednesday to contact people who’ve died and knows where they’re buried."
