A double-decker bus has burst into flames on a major road. The vehicle was on the A13 near Wennington on Friday morning, with firefighters rushing to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Transport for London (TfL) said no customers were on board at the time and there were no reported injuries to the driver. The fire closed the eastbound A13 in Essex.
A spokesperson from London Fire Brigade said LFB was called just after 9am to reports of a double-decker bus alight on the A13 near Wennington.
They said firefighters put out the fire which damaged most of the bus. The spokespersons said the eastbound carriageway of the A13 was temporarily closed to allow crews to work safely.
TfL said the carriageway reopened by Friday afternoon, but there were still delays reported as a result of the blaze.
It apologised for the inconvenience caused and said it was working with the bus operator Arriva to investigate the cause.
This is the second London bus to catch fire in as many days. A double decker bus went up in flames in Great Portland Street on Thursday (July 31).
LFB said there were no reported injuries, the number 88 bus was evacuated and the fire was under control by 7am.
