Peaky Blinders fans will be delighted to learn that Steven Knight is set to write the next James Bond film. With Denis Villeneuve officially confirmed to direct the next Bond movie and Amazon eyeing a potential 2028 release, the announcement of the new 007 may be just around the corner. Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that Steven will pen the script for the upcoming film. The Bafta winner is best known for his works on Peaky Blinders, Taboo, A Thousand Blows, and The Veil. He is also involved in multiple upcoming projects, including the Netflix feature film adaptation of Peaky Blinders and the Netflix historical drama series, House of Guinness.

Denis Villeneuve has already been announced as the director of the next movie, but a successor to Daniel Craig has yet to be appointed. Dennis takes over the job from Cary Joji Fukunaga, who directed No Time To Die.

Villeneuve, 57, has vowed to "honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come."

In a statement, he said: "Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr No with Sean Connery.

"To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come."

Earlier this year, Amazon Studios took control of the franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, while Amy Pascal and David Heyman are attached to produce the next film in the super spy series.

Bond fans are already reacting to the news of Steven's involvement in the franchise. One person said on X: "The next Bond film will undoubtedly be very good with Steven Knight as the writer."

A second also commented: "He's a fast/ prolific writer so he should have this turned around pretty quickly. Things are starting to heat up!"

A third also chimed in: "I cannot wait to see what he does. It'll be good and a fresh look for the movies. Good choice."

A fourth similarly joked: "Ohh, interesting! It wasn’t an action movie, but I really, really enjoyed “Locke” with Tom Hardy - great writing, so that’s promising!"
