Eight children from a summer camp have been taken to hospital with suspected poisoning after reporting falling unwell on Monday. A pensioner has been arrested in connection with the incident. On Sunday (27 July), a report was received by Leicestershire Police concerning children feeling unwell at a summer camp in Canal Lane in Stathern. The report was made by a third party.
After the report, officers were sent along with the East Midlands Ambulance Service to speak with and treat the children concerned. A triage centre was set up at Plungar village hall to assess all those present at the camp. Following an initial assessment, a total of eight children were taken to hospital as a precaution and have all since been discharged.
