The Summer I Turned Pretty continued this week with Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) sharing their engagement news.

Belly seemed to have forgotten all about Jeremiah’s misdeeds as she broke the news of their plans to her mother Laurel Park (Jackie Chung), who was horrified by the whole thing.

The series will see how Belly and Jeremiah continue to navigate their relationship through their parents’ disapproval. 

Many viewers were left fuming about the cheating and wondered why Belly would choose Jeremiah over Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) after the double-bill series premiere kicked off last week.

Addressing Jeremiah’s infidelity, lead star Tung told Elle: “Young love is intense” and said it was “pure shock” for Belly.

She went on to admit: “This is someone who’s been her rock for so many years and who she’s known her entire life. It can be heartbreaking when you feel like you don’t know everything [about someone].” 

Interestingly, the star said she didn’t consider Belly and Jeremiah to have been on a break when he slept with another girl twice. 

Tung added that some of the fault lay with Belly for not reaching out and that she was “more of a mess in her own head”.

Who plays Lucinda in The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Kristen Connolly portrays Lucinda Jewel in the YA series, after she appeared in the opening instalment and again in the third episode.

The 45-year-old American actress is best known for her roles in The Cabin in the Woods, Netflix’s House of Cards and CBS show Zoo.

Hailing from Montclair, New Jersey, the actress first starred as an extra in the likes of Mona Lisa Smile, The Happening and Meet Dave.

She also had some recurring roles in the daytime soaps Guiding Light and As the World Turns.

However, it was the Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard vehicle that propelled her into the spotlight as she plays the lead Dana in 2012’s The Cabin in the Woods.

The sci-fi comedy horror film also starred Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, and Bradley Whitford.

The following year, she went on to star in horror flick The Bay from Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson.

She gained further recognition thanks to her role as Christina Gallagher in House of Cards and also A+E’s Houdinin series opposite Adrien Brody.

Between 2015 and 2017, Connolly starred in the TV series Zoo in the role of Jamie Campbell.

She also starred in the HBO movie about disgraced financier Bernie Madoff, The Wizard of Lies and appeared alongside Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer.

In more recent years, Connolly has had roles in the likes of Outer Range, FBI: International and Prodigal Son.

Connolly was one of several new stars to join The Summer I Turned Pretty for its final season, with other stars including Isabella Briggs, Sofia Bryant, Lily Donoghue, Zoe de Grand Maison, Emma Ishta and Tanner Zagarino.
