A woman has been arrested for planning an assassination attempt on Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

She is accussed of allegedly plotting with others to kill the Israeli leader using an improvised explosive device, according to the Israeli intelligence service Shin Bet.

The suspect was taken into custody about two weeks ago, before being released under restrictive conditions.

This included a ban on approaching government institutions and the Prime Minister.

An indictment is expected to be filed against her on Thursday, accusing the suspect of conspiracy to commit a crime and to commit an act of terror.
