Iconic UK music producer and Liquid co-founder Eamon Downes, also known as Ame, has died following a five-year battle with brain cancer. The news was confirmed on Facebook by fellow DJ and producer Billy Daniel Bunter. Alongside pictures of him with Eamon in happier times, he wrote: "It’s with heartbreaking sadness that I’m letting the world know we’ve lost Eamon Downes, devoted husband to Stella, proud dad to Bea, and one of my closest friends ever.
"This one really hurts...He fought unbelievably hard over the last five years with the tumour. Kept bouncing back strong. But eventually the fight was just too much. Of course, his timeless anthems will live forever with music lovers all over the world....And every time I speak to Stella. Every time I see Bea. Every time I see his face on pictures and video he's with me forever....I miss you already, Eamon. I love you, always. "
Fans were devastated by the news and rushed to pay tribute and offer their condolences.
"RIP Eamon, thank you for the music. Sending lots of love and strength to your family," one wrote. "What an artist, and what a contribution he made to the scene we all love. My thoughts with all his family and friends," another penned.
"Oh wow, I'm shocked and gutted to hear this. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was such a lovely guy. He always made time to chat with us, even when he was in a rush. Big condolences to you and all of his family and friends. R.I.P. Eamon," a third added.
A fourth chimed in: "So sad, another great loss to the industry. RIP." A fifth shared:"Absolutely gutted to hear this sad news. The world has lost yet another rave legend. Thoughts are with you all and his family x." Meanwhile, a sixth shared: "Oh no, such sad news. Thoughts and prayers with the family and loved ones. Such a lovely guy."
