A clip from a Coldplay concert in the US has taken the internet by storm this week, featuring two individuals who became the centre of attention on a "kiss cam". Their bashful response caught everyone's eye, and even Chris Martin couldn't resist making light-hearted remarks about their shyness. The footage was reportedly captured at Gillette Stadium in Boston, where Chris, aged 48, and his bandmates rocked the stage on Tuesday and again last night. These performances are part of their Music of the Spheres world tour, which is set to hit the UK later in the year. During one of the concerts, after focusing on various fans, the camera zoomed in on a couple on a balcony. Observing the duo, who seemed to be gently swaying to the tunes while hand in hand, Chris exclaimed: "Oh look at these two!".
Their reaction to being featured on the big screen was evident in the video that surfaced on social media today. One swiftly hid their face and turned away, while the other stooped down to evade the lens. Chris encouraged them with a reassuring: "Alright. Come on, you're okay," before playfully commenting on their evasion: "Oh what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," reports the Mirror.
The video concludes with him pondering: "I'm not quite sure."
Initially, the audience's laughter filled the air as the pair recoiled from the limelight, but soon cheers and whistles erupted as Chris jovially speculated about the situation during the live performance.
A TikTok video has gone viral, racking up over 17 million views, while another post with the same clip on X has attracted 7.5 million views.
The individuals in the footage have been identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and, Kristin Cabot, who is the company's Chief People Officer. Cabot, who has been in her position for nine months, was lauded by Byron upon her appointment last November for her "exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management".
Byron commended: "She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer."
Cabot expressed her enthusiasm about joining the team, stating: "I prefer to think of my role as people strategy versus traditional human resources, as the real magic happens when you align the people strategy with the business strategy."
Meanwhile, Chris and his bandmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion are currently on tour. Coldplay began their global tour in 2022, which is set to culminate at Wembley Stadium in London this September.
However, they are next slated to perform at venues in Madison, Nashville and Miami as they wrap up the final North American leg of the three-year tour. Coldplay will then proceed to Craven Park in Hull before their gigs in London.
The band were joined by Elyanna and Ayra Starr at their concerts in Boston earlier this year. They are set to be accompanied by additional special guests including Tems and Beabadoobee for their summer concerts in the UK later this year.
