A massive fire has engulfed and seemingly destroyed the main stage of a popular music festival set to begin in just hours. The main stage of Tomorrowland, to be launched on Friday in Belgium, was burned down on Wednesday, chilling clips circulating on social media show. The blaze ripped through the venue's main stage in Boom. There are no festivalgoers at the site, but it has been reported that around 1,000 employees are there.
At present, it is not clear as to whether anyone has been injured in the fire. Locals have been urged to shut their windows and doors. Due to get going on Friday, the European festival sees thousands of fans attending every year over one weekend to listen to electronic sets. Videos shared online show flames and thick plumes of smoke being sent up into the air. Fireworks can also be heard, but it is not known whether these are linked to the incident.
