Hidden away in Wales is one of the world’s most exclusive beaches. It’s so exclusive that if you don’t time your visit perfectly, you won’t be able to visit at all.
This beach offers incredible natural beauty as well as clear waters and towering cliffs that provide gorgeous views out over the sea. Located to the south-east of the pretty Manorbier Village, Skrinkle Haven is small, but the water is perfect for wild swimming - and boasts a surprisingly warm microclimate even on cooler days thanks to its sheltered position. It's frequently listed among the best beaches in the UK.
If you want to see this spot for yourself, make sure you’re prepared to crawl through the narrow rocky tunnel that leads to the beach from Church Doors Cove - located between Manorbier and Lydstep in Pembrokeshire, West Wales
Those brave enough to squeeze through will emerge onto a completely secluded sandy cove surrounded by towering cliffs.
Visitors need to check tide times carefully before attempting the journey, though, and should never try to access the beach when the tide is coming in.
If you don’t fancy squeezing through the rocks, you can also access this beautiful stretch of sand by sea.
Grab a couple of kayaks and paddle along the craggy coastline. The Pembrokeshire coastline gained National Park status in 1952 and has since become a haven for hikers and paddlers looking for coastal adventures.
It’s worth noting this beach has zero amenities and is totally wild so make sure you bring any snacks or water you think you might need.
If you don’t make it to Skrinkle Haven because the tide isn’t right, or you simply don’t fancy it then don’t panic.
Church Doors Cove, where you enter the beach, is still one of the most beautiful in the UK.
Its star attraction is the dramatic, towering archway, carved into the cliff by the sea, that resembles grand cathedral doors - it';s the Welsh answer to Dorset's Durdle Door.
