A "kind and gentle" father-of-four vanished without trace after setting off for work one morning.
Kevin Fasting Senior was 49 when he disappeared from his parents' residence in Aigburth more than two decades ago.
Despite extensive searches across the region, he has never been spotted or contacted anyone since.
His parents were the last to see him at their Aigburth Road home, near Aigburth Vale, on Friday, November 21 2003.
Kevin had begun a new position in Bootle delivering meals on wheels just seven days earlier.
On the morning he vanished, Kevin Snr departed the house for work and was spotted moments later by a neighbour at a local bus stop.
The neighbour offered Kevin Snr a ride to his workplace, but he refused.
This marked the final time Kevin was observed, as he failed to turn up for work and has remained missing ever since.
Speaking about his father, Kevin Jnr, 42, said:
"He was a very kind and gentle soul. He was very popular, everyone just loved him.
"Everyone spoke fondly of him when he was here and he was a great dad.
"He just lived for his kids, he was very close to his family. He had one brother and three sisters along with his mum and dad, all living in Aigburth."
Kevin Snr was also a devoted Liverpool supporter who attended the club's first four European Cup finals between 1977 and 1984.
However, as years passed, he began battling mental health issues. Shortly before he vanished, Kevin Snr had attempted to end his own life.
Looking back on this difficult time, his son believes the circumstances highlight how dramatically attitudes towards mental health have evolved. Kevin Jnr explained: "He moved back in with his parents who lived around the corner. They were getting him back on his feet, metaphorically.
But that was before mental health was talked about widely. When I was growing up, if I would have went to my mates and said 'I'm depressed', they would've just said, 'pull it together'.
"He couldn't speak to anyone. If it was in this day and age, he would have had more help for sure and he would have been able to talk about it. Unfortunately, it was a different world back then."
The evening before he disappeared, Kevin Jnr had a telephone conversation with his father and detected his downcast spirit.
Kevin recalled: "He got back into work because he thought that was the right thing to do.
"I was at Leeds University at the time, so I wasn't seeing him every day, although I'd speak to him every night on the phone.
"I was back in Liverpool the week before - that was the last time I saw him in person.
"I did notice a bit of sadness when I last spoke to him on the Thursday night and he went missing on Friday morning. He seemed quite down and defeated.
Kevin Jnr revealed: "When my nan and grandad got up, he'd already left for work as he usually would. He just left us a note to me and my sister, just to say that he was sorry, that he'd let us down and that we would be better off without him.
"After that, you're expecting to find the body. Then, as the weeks go on, you don't find the body.
"Then you get some hope and think, he must not be dead because you would have found him.
"Then the weeks turn into months, then into years, then into two decades - and here we are."
Despite countless pleas for information, much of what Kevin has learnt about his father's disappearance has led to dead ends. He explained: "Every time we put another article out, it might get a bit of traction.
"You might get some people and reach out to try and help, so we've had a couple of false alarms.
"You'll get a few people saying stuff and then it's not correct.
"There's a couple of things where we've then investigated a little bit.
"But there's nothing there. In a nutshell, there's no trace of him. Absolutely no trace."
Kevin channelled the anguish from his father's vanishing into founding KE Costs legal firm, a tribute to his dad and managed by his sister Becky. His entrepreneurial spirit has since led to the creation of an impressive portfolio of over 35 businesses.
In a heartfelt 2022 conversation with The Missing podcast, Kevin Jnr clung to the possibility that his father might still be out there. He confessed: "I'll never give up hope, although I'm resigned to the fact that I'm probably not going to see him in this lifetime."
His determination also permeates his business ethos. Reflecting on his journey, he said: "I graduated from uni, then got into recruitment. By that time, a few years had passed and no-one was looking for him."
Driven by a personal mission, Kevin explained his initial business goal: "I felt I wanted to do something myself. So I set up my own business to then generate money to advertise on bus stops."
He elaborated on his evolving vision: "That was the initial plan, to keep the dream alive. Within the first year of business, I thought, you know what, he's gone on his own accord.
"If I find him this way, I'm forcing him to come back. So what else can I do with the money?"
Kevin made a selfless choice with his success: "So I made the decision to retire my mum and some family members instead.
"I tried to build a life for him if he did come back, make him proud and look after the family members that were left. That's why I named the business after him.
"As the years have gone on, it keeps me motivated and it keeps his legacy alive."
Kevin has launched Peak Costs, an ambitious £3m enterprise emerging from the fusion of KE Costs Lawyers and Paramount Legal Costs. This new legal powerhouse is set to span Liverpool and Carlisle, with full integration on the horizon by September 2025.
Kevin Jnr is determined to demonstrate that overcoming adversity can lead to triumph. He shared: "I'm writing a book at the moment and it's a little bit about that."
Kevin Snr is described as white, 5' 10", of medium build, with blue eyes and short brown hair.
He also has a Liver Bird and LFC tattoo on his lower right arm. He was dressed in black trousers, a white long-sleeved shirt paired with a yellow tie, a grey fleece jacket, and a dark green hooded trench coat, along with size eight Clarks blue lace-up shoes and blue or brown jeans.
Kevin also sported a distinctive LFC watch featuring a silver strap and had £30 in cash on him.
