The body of a 15-year-old boy has been pulled from a river in Glasgow after a major search operation. Members of the emergency services rushed to the River Kelvin in the city's Maryhill neighbourhood after receiving reports of a person in the water at 6.40pm on Saturday (July 12).

Police officers, paramedics and firefighters joined the search. The teenager was found after about five hours. Police are investigating the boy's death, but are not treating it has suspicious.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 6.40pm on Saturday, 12 July, 2025, a search and rescue operation was launched following a report of a 15-year-old male in the River Kelvin, near Maryhill Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and around 11.30pm the body of a male was recovered from the water. Inquiries are ongoing, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious."

News of the youngster's death comes after police confirmed a woman died at a popular beauty spot in Scotland on Saturday.

The woman fell to her death at Campsie Glen, East Dunbartonshire, according to the Scottish Daily Express. Police and paramedics were called to Campsie Glen after receiving reports of an incident at about 12.35pm yesterday.

The 63-year-old fell near a car park close to waterfalls and died at the scene. Police Scotland is investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
