Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney is reportedly set to become the next Bond bombshell in the highly-anticipated James Bond film. The franchise’s new director Denis Villeneuve is a close friend of the blonde bombshell, and is keen to cast the White Lotus star, 27.
The Hollywood favourite has the backing of Jeff Bazos, boss of Amazon which had creative control of the British spy series. A movie source told The Sun: “Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise.
“They’ve hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise. Plus Sydney has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of Bond girls.”
The actress recently transformed her figure to portray the US boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic, regularly lifting weights and kickboxing daily.
Sydney was pictured last year chatting to Villeneuve, 57, and Bond girl Ana de Armas, 37, at the Toronto Film Festival. And last month she attended business mogul Bezos’ Venice wedding.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton are among the favourites to replace Daniel Craig – whose last film as Bond was 2021’s No Time to Die.
It comes after Dua Lipa was dealt a huge blow as Raye has emerged as the new frontrunner to perform the next James Bond theme song, according to William Hill.
Raye is now a 6/4 favourite in the latest Bond odds, with former leader Dua Lipa, who has been the firm favourtie over the last few years trailing closely at 5/2. Other contenders with single-figure odds include Chappell Roan (5/1), Lana Del Rey (6/1), and Lady Gaga (8/1).
Other stars with longer shots are past theme song performers Billie Eilish and Adele (both 20/1), whilst Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Michael Bubl é representing the leading male artists in the wagering, also at 20/1.
William Hill spokesman Lee Phelps told Express.co.uk: “After Denis Villeneuve was revealed as the director of James Bond 26, talk of who will sing the theme song has really begun to hot up.
“Following her blistering performance at Glastonbury, Raye is our new 6/4 favourite to do the honours, jumping ahead of Dua Lipa in the betting, who is now 5/2.
“The top five in the betting are all female artists, with Chappell Roan, Lana del Ray and Lady Gaga all towards the top of the market. The most likely male options look to be one of Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles or Michael Bubl é, all of whom are 20/1 shots.”
