BST Hyde Park have revealed they have cancelled tomorrow's event (Sunday, July 13). The surprising news comes hours after ELO were forced to pull out of the music festival due to Jeff Lynne's illness.
In a statement, organisers revealed: "Following the news that Jeff Lynne's ELO will not be able to perform at BST Hyde Park due to medical reasons, Sunday 13 July's event will sadly be cancelled." It comes after a statement earlier today reported that Jeff had been left "heartbroken" by the realisation he could not continue. It confirmed: "Jeff has been battling a systemic infection and is currently in the care of a team of doctors who have advised him that performing is simply not possible at this time nor will he be able to reschedule."
It concluded: "The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff's mind today - and while he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time."
The first hint that the Hyde Park show would not be going ahead came on Thursday July 10, when the ELO concert at Manchester's Co-op Live was also pulled, just minutes before it was due to begin.
Fans reported feeling "sick" with shock, especially after learning Jeff cannot fulfil the final gig on the Over and Out farewell tour.
The 77-year's old welfare has been a cause of concern during the tour, with him previously revealing he'd been battling a broken hand too.
