At least 15 people were reportedly left injured after a ferry drove into a quay in Sweden. A total of 150 people were onboard the ferry which crashed at high speed in Nacka, located east of Stockholm.
According to the Swedish Maritime and Air Rescue Service, the ferry failed to turn into the bay and crashed into the quay. The passenger boat reportedly collided with the quay shortly after 11am local time (10am GMT) and 15 people suffered minor injuries.
As reported by local news site Expressen, emergency services, including paramedics, rushed to the scene of the crash. Lars Antonsson, air rescue leader at the Swedish Maritime and Air Rescue Service, said: "It is a passenger boat that failed to stop in time and hit the quay quite hard."
Nacka is part of the Stockholm urban area in Sweden. It is described on tourism site Visit Stockholm as "where a big city and island meet".
There are frequent ferry services operating between Nacka Strand and various parts of Stockholm. They are part of the public transport system in Stockholm, operated by SL.
Some of the ferry routes depart every 15 minutes while others leave every few hours. Travellers are able to head between Nacka Strand and Slussen, Nybroplan, and other parts of Stockholm.
