If you're a fan of IKEA and looking to book your next holiday, you may be interested to learn that the Swedish furniture retail giant is branching out into the hotel business.

Travel expert, Dave - known as Mr TravelOn online - was invited to visit the world's first IKEA hotel, which is located in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. He took to TikTok to showcase the 27-room boutique-style accommodation, which also offer holidaymakers a dining service too.

After revealing the site is adults-only, Dave headed inside as he exclaimed in a video: "It is just amazing, with the inside all decorated with IKEA, and the outside having all garden furniture around a beautiful pool that just lights up the evening. The sunbeds are all IKEA here, which is what the novelty is all about - it's such a cool idea."

Heading to his room, meanwhile, Dave was stunned to discover it laid out exactly as you would find an IKEA show home in-store. "This is just amazing," he said, pointing out the double bed. "The IKEA rug, even IKEA lights too."

The travel expert went on to highlight the room's air conditioning system and fridge, before showing off its desk - one of IKEA's most popular product lines. In the bathroom, Dave was impressed by the "nice, big walk-in shower", and the "good quality" pink IKEA towels.

Dave was also impressed by his room's Krups coffee machine, the "nice big, fluffy blanket", as well as his own outdoor terrace overlooking the pool area. "That's madness," he declared.

The travel expert soon followed up with part 2 of his insight, sharing a video which began with him enjoying the hotel's continental breakfast - minus the company's trademark meatballs.

"It's IKEA plates, IKEA cutlery... it's IKEA everything," Dave said.

He continued: "The continental breakfast is included in the price - you get all your coffee - and what a place to enjoy breakfast, just sitting and looking over the pool from your table."

Dave went on to admit that he was "really impressed by the spread" as he revealed the selection of meat, cheese, fruit and bread on offer.

"Of course they have got all your pastries and cakes too," he said. "I got straight into all the cold-cuts and fresh salmon - a protein-filled breakfast along with a bit of bread cut with an IKEA knife of course."

After heading back up to get a plate of fruit and nuts, Dave closed by declaring: "This has to be one of the healthiest breakfasts I have ever had.

"Fresh strawberries, blueberries, dragon fruit, raspberries - which you don't normally see in the Canary Islands - and blackberries as well. It's beautiful."

It wasn't necessarily the amenities, location, breakfast or bedrooms that seemed to catch Dave's attention the most.

Judging by his review, the one detail that stood out was how much the accommodation showcased IKEA furniture. You couldn't have an IKEA hotel without stylish Scandi decor, after all!

Interested in visiting? IKEA summarises the hotel online: "Step into this small, welcoming hotel in a busy city.

"It’s magnetic, yet soothing with references to nature giving off a calm warmth that energises and grounds. This modern hotel lobby and meeting area supports your guests’ needs (business, leisure, both) by being casual, practical and versatile in contemporary surroundings."
