A spokesman for Czech power operator, ČEPS, told local outlet iROZHLAS.cz: "At this moment, we can confirm that there was a failure of the 411 line and subsequently the creation of an island operation in the north and east of the Czech Republic. The event affected a part of the transmission system without voltage, and a larger part of the transmission system distribution.
"We are investigating the causes, our energy engineers are working intensively to restore electricity supplies. That's the most I can tell you at this point."
