Emergency services have rushed to a field in Essex this afternoon after a light aircraft crashed near the village of Stebbing. Firefighters, police officers and paramedics are currently on the scene. One person has been confirmed injured and was helped from the aircraft before being handed over to the ambulance service. Their condition is not yet known.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said they used an off-road vehicle to dampen the ground around the plane over fears it could catch fire. Crews from Dunmow, Newport, Brentwood and Saffron Walden were all called out to the scene. The aircraft came down in an open field and was severely damaged, with firefighters working to make the area safe.
