While Prince Harry is now a responsible dad-of-two, there is no denying the fact that the prince loved a good party in his teenage years and early adulthood. The Duke of Sussex, 43, was one of the royals best-known for his love of partying, with the prince - who stepped down as a senior royal in 2020 - often making the headlines for it.
One of the occasions the prince was spotted out and about on the music scene was when he attended the 2009 Barclaycard Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park. The prince was watching the performers backstage when Basement Jaxx played their set. However, not many royal fans know that the prince actually took to the stage himself in a disguise.
As reported by The Sun, Basement Jaxx invited Harry to take to the stage as a dancing gorilla - which he did.
Jaxx star Felix Buxton said: "We met Harry before the show and said, 'If you want to be a gorilla on stage, help yourself'.
“[One gorilla] was doing this kind of silly disco dancing. Often we say, can you try and get into the part of being a gorilla? Don't try act like you're on a stag do. So I went over and rugby tackled him down.
"And after doing that, I looked out to side-stage and saw [security] with a hand on an earpiece. [I thought], 'Oh god, I forgot! Maybe that's him?' It looked like it was serious on a presidential level.”
After the set, Felix Buxton said he went to apologise to Prince Harry. He recalled: "I quite pathetically did a curtsy to apologise for knocking him over.
"He (Harry) said that was one of the best moments of his life. He might look back now and think, 'Oh god yeah, I was so free'.”
Prince Harry has never spoken about the experience on stage or confirmed it was him.
