King Charles paid tribute to the “courage, fortitude and spirit” of the Coldstream Guards ahead of the regiment's central role in Trooping the Colour today. His Majesty’s words of praise came as he presented new colours to troops from the 1st and 2nd Battalions at a traditional ceremony in the quadrangle of Windsor Castle.
Troops paraded in the scorching sunshine on Friday morning before the King’s official birthday celebrations in London this weekend. All senior members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, are expected to attend.
The King is Colonel-in-Chief of the Coldstream Guards, who are celebrating their 375th year.
