A British man holidaying in Pakistan has admitted to finding the South Asian nation's seaside "full of surprises" as he documented his trip to Karachi on social media.
A TikTok video of George Buckley's unlikely tourist destination has gone viral after he showcased what the beach has to offer 4,000 miles from home. In footage recorded from the sand itself, George highlighted huge crowds congregating near the tide as he acknowledged: "Look at this - everyone has come here for the evening."
He continued, pointing out several wagons as means of tourists' transport options - as well as "our big old friend joining us" in the form of a camel ride. "It's pretty intense here," George declared, despite the gloomy looking weather.
"There are literally stalls and seats in the water - this is obviously a new experience for me," he added before joking he was the only Englishman in the area. "There are so many sandals left in the sand" George said as his clip captured dozens of pairs discarded on the surface.

He closed his video pointing out a "flooding issue", meanwhile, as the tide washed up litter on the shore including paper plates, cups and numerous items of plastic waste. "The water here is black," he said. "I don't know if it's oil - it looks a bit oily so I'm not going to jump to conclusions and say it's polluted, but it obviously doesn't look the best."
After his video went viral with two million viewers tuning in, George soon returned with a follow-up video from the same resort. In it, he confessed his shock at cars freely driving across the sand, before his attentions turned to the littering once more.
"It's a big shock - we've got dune buggies, we've got burgers and we've got camels," he said, unable to contain his laughter. "This is cool, the cars are literally right next to the water. It's literally a free for all.
"But there's a crazy amount of rubbish - that's a clear observation," he said as he pointed his camera to the sand to illustrate the problem. "The people are great though - they give you some concerned looks, but as soon as you smile, they smile back. I just had a 10-minute conversation with a group of guys and they gave me a bottle of water and I tried to teach them some English."
Writing in reponse, one TikTok user advised George: "The beaches you need to go go are further down south. Seaview is highly polluted, many oil spills have taken place here. Hawksbay, Sandspit or French Beach are more gated and less polluted."
A second person noted: "I guess it's a reflection of how populous the country is. Half of my genetics are from there and I'd never ever go, idea scares me. I don't know if I'm ignorant or wise."
A third admitted: "Shame about the state of the beach, it could be beautiful. But the litter and all the other junk is wild."
Whilst a fourth TikTok user lamented: "It’s actually sad. Everything’s so dull and so much rubbish and clearly polluted. Clearly they don’t care about the environment."
However, a local penned in defence: "Actually we do! People just break the law and face no consequences. There is a ban on plastic bags for example."
