When it comes to great weather, beautiful landscapes, and cheap prices, this incredible island nation certainly has it all. If you haven't booked a holiday yet or you are looking for somewhere new to experience, look no further than Madagascar.

The stunning destination located off Africa's southeastern coast in the Indian Ocean is home to white sandy beaches that are lined with palm trees and are so pretty that you can spend the whole day there. It also boasts temperatures of up to 27C, perfect for travellers who prioritise soaking up the sun while away.

Madagascar's sandy coastal spots provide the best conditions for various watersports, including swimming, diving, snorkelling, surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing.

Madagascar is still considered a hidden gem, welcoming only 308,275 tourists in 2024. This just means that those who visit soon get to experience its beauty away from all the crowds.

Another thing that makes Madagascar a must-visit destination is that, unlike many other destinations, tourists do not have to spend a lot of money to enjoy a holiday there.

When it comes to eating and drinking in Madagascar, you'll be shocked at how cheap the prices are. A three-course meal for two at a restaurant costs only £13, and a pint is just 73p.

Beyond spending hours at the beach, there are many activities to take part in when visiting the country. Madagascar's picturesque landscapes do not stop at its beaches, and a hiking trip will prove that.

In fact, hiking is one of the most popular things to do on the island as it allows you to really discover the fauna and flora of Madagascar. Whether it's the country's beautiful lakes or mountain peaks you want to explore, there is certainly a trail that will help you do that.

For animal lovers, a trip to at least one of Madagascar's many nature reserves is not to be missed. Ranomafana National Park covers nearly 41,600 hectares of rainforest and was described as "a must-see rain forest national park" by a visitor on TripAdvisor.

"We saw 5 species of lemurs, perfect camouflage gecko, phasm, birds, frogs. Accompanied by a very serious guide Lala Ramanampamonjy, we chose the 5-hour tour, ending with the waterfall, good explanations and Latin names provided by our guide.. Beautiful landscapes and secondary and primary forest as one can dream! Fairly sporty though, but without major difficulty. It slips, good shoes with a sole hanging well in the mud," another visitor.
