Jurgen Klopp has dismissed claims he is set to take over at Real Madrid, calling the transfer whispers unfounded and saying there has been no contact from the Spanish club.
Speaking in Munich at the Magenta TV World Cup team presentation, the former Liverpool manager said neither he nor his agent has been approached about the vacancy and that the rumours are misplaced.
Klopp stepped away from Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season and has since taken a role as head of global football with Red Bull.
He stressed he is not actively plotting a move back into management right now, but did not rule out returning to the dugout in future.
The 58-year-old reminded listeners he is not ready to retire from coaching, suggesting there could be opportunities further down the line.
At the same time he reiterated a previous promise that he would never manage another English club besides Liverpool.
Klopp enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Anfield after his 2015 arrival, guiding the side to the Champions League in 2019 and ending a 30-year wait for a league title in 2019-20.
His honours there also include domestic cups and international trophies such as the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Before Liverpool, Klopp made his name in Germany with Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund, where he won consecutive Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012.
His Liverpool contract had been due to run until 2026, but he opted to step down in January 2024, citing dwindling energy for the role.
For now, Klopp says nothing is decided and he is content to see what the coming years bring.
Any link to Real Madrid, he insists, is headline fodder rather than fact.
