He's a beloved British gardener and television presenter who has been a staple on our screens for many years.

Alan Titchmarsh first dipped his toes into radio when he hosted the gardening programme House in a Garden on BBC Radio 2. He then made his television debut on the BBC show Nationwide as a horticulture expert, before taking on the role of presenting the Chelsea Flower Show for BBC television in 1983.

He rose to fame presenting BBC's Gardeners' World and especially Ground Force in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Ground Force, where he worked alongside Charlie Dimmock and Tommy Walsh, was hugely popular for its surprise garden makeovers.

More recently, Titchmarsh has branched out and started to impart his gardening advice on his own YouTube channel as well as hosting his own show, Love Your Weekend. Beyond his gardening exploits, Titchmarsh has penned several fiction books, with his first being published in 1998.

He’s also well known for his love of the British countryside and the royal family. He’s received honours like the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to horticulture and broadcasting.

Throughout his many career achievements over the years, his wife Alison has been a constant and supportive presence by his side. With the couple soon set to mark their golden wedding anniversary, Alan recently gave a rare insight into his private life as he has admitted he and his wife "might not make it".

During a recent interview with Saga magazine, he said: "It's amazing that we have lasted for 50 years. We haven't got there yet, mind. We might not make it. Take nothing for granted!"

The pair firts met at an amateur dramatics group back in the early 70s later tying the knot in 1975. Since then the pair have had two children together, Camilla and Polly.

Originally from Ilkley, West Riding of Yorkshire, Titchmarsh now splits his time between Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

He and his wife Alison relocated to their Grade II-listed Georgian farmhouse in Hampshire in 2002. The couple has transformed the property into a serene countryside retreat, complete with a sprawling garden that reflects Alan's passion for horticulture.

The property, nestled within four acres of land, boasts 10 mini waterfalls, a vast greenhouse, a shed and an abundance of lush greenery. Situated in Alton, Hampshire, it's reportedly valued at a staggering £1.25million, according to Entertainment Daily.

Alton is a market town steeped in history, having been recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086.

The bustling town is known as one of Hampshire's friendliest and was once home to famed novelist Jane Austen.

The town, recognised as one of the top places to live by Muddy Stilettos, is celebrated for its untouched natural beauty, peaceful countryside, and bustling shops, restaurants, and pubs.

Muddy Stilettos characterised the town as "pretty and commutable", brimming with "chocolate box thatched cottages, barn conversions, Victorian and Edwardian houses and contemporary new builds".

Titchmarsh also owns a seaside home near Cowes on the Isle of Wight, where he spends roughly a third of his time.
