Avocado toast is creamier and tastier with 1 simple ingredient![]() If you thought you’ve heard of all the elaborate and creative ways you can prepare an avocado toast, think again. Avocado toast are the gifts that keep on giving, and the methods for perfecting them are endless. While you can spice up avocado toast by seasoning them, trumping their simplicity by adding poached eggs, and making them fancier with various toppings like nuts or chickpeas, one recipe developer has found the perfect way to make avocado toasts "creamier". Taking to his Don’t Go Bacon My Heart food blog, Chris Collins argues that ‘if you’ve never added cream cheese to your avocado toast then you haven’t quite lived’. With this in mind, he recommends incorporating cream cheese with avocado toast, as it "adds a gentle tangy flavour and really enhances the natural creaminess of the avocado". Nevertheless, achieving a perfect and creamy avocado toast requires more than just a simple cream cheese. According to Chris, to make "the perfect avocado toast" you need the right type of bread, a fair amount of seasoning, and the correct method for preparing the fruit. How to make your avocado toast creamier and tastier: Toast the right breadAccording to Chris, bread shouldn’t be ‘overlooked’ because it’s the "edible plate on which your toppings rest". Chris recommends using a sturdy loaf, like a sourdough, to counteract the soft avocado and cream cheese. He writes: “You’ll want medium slices. Too thick and it distracts from the toppings, too thin and it won’t be sturdy enough. “You also want an oval-shaped loaf, just so the avocado fits neatly on top. Sliced avocado never looks quite right on square slices of bread.” He further instructs: “I typically toast the bread in a pan, but you can toast under the grill if you’d prefer. Either way, I recommend using extra virgin olive oil for an extra layer of flavour.” Add cream cheeseChris recommends using full fat cream cheese. After toasting your bread, spread toast with cream cheese then sprinkle with fresh and finely diced chives. “These pair nicely with cream cheese and avocado and offer an extra layer of flavour,” Chris writes. Sliced avocadoChris writes: “For the avocado, you’re looking for it to be perfectly ripe. Just give it a press before buying. “It should give a little, but not so much the skin begins to crack.” For this recipe, the cook recommends slicing the avocado. “I find it gives you another layer of texture instead of mashing it, where it blends right in with the cream cheese,” he reveals. Continue by adding your sliced avocado, then top with a squeeze of lemon juice and chilli flakes, salt and black pepper to taste. Source link Posted: 2025-05-24 06:36:37 |
