Allergy tablets hayfever sufferers swear by have big discount

The sun is shining, the BBQ is getting heated up, and it's time to while away the summer days enjoying the outdoors. However, for those suffering from hayfever, days spent surrounded by pollenating plants can be a less-than-enjoyable experience.

Allergy tablets are a great way to combat hayfever symptoms, helping with annoying sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy, red, or watery eyes. They can cost a pretty penny, though, which is why it's a good idea to stock up on medication when it's available at a reduced price.

Now shoppers can get their hands on 90 Allevia Allergy Tablets for £22.90 at Amazon, down 36% from the RRP of £35.54. The non-drowsy medication has fexofenadine as the active ingredient, and the tablets work in one hour and provide 24-hour relief.

The Allevia tablets can be used for adults and children aged 12 years and older. Plus, they're lactose free, gluten free and easy to swallow.

There are lots of alternative hayfever medications on the market, which have different active ingredients and vary in price. For example, Boots' Hayfever & Allergy Relief 10mg Tablets are £5.39 for 30 tablets, suitable for combatting symptoms of hayfever, pet allergy, skin allergy and dust allergy. This medicine contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride which is from the antihistamine group of medicines. There's also Benadryl Allergy Relief Acrivastine for £5.17 for 12 tablets at Waitrose, which is said to get to work in 15 minutes and contains Acrivastine as the active ingredient. It's worth noting that these tablets contain lactose, so might not be suitable for everyone.

The Allevia tablets have a great 4.5 star rating on Amazon. One shopper said: "Works perfectly for my son. Nothing else seemed to work before."

Another said: "These are a must have for hayfever and allergies! I wouldn’t buy anything else now and have recommended to so many people."

A third added: "Absolutely the best hayfever tablets I’ve ever used! Great price too."

However, they weren't 100% effective for everyone. One said: "I'm one of those unlucky people who have an array of symptoms - itchy, swollen eyelids, watery eyes, runny and itchy red nose, frequent sneezing fits, itchy skin all over my face and awfully itchy throat, so much so that it is debilitating and I want to stick a fork in there. These pills took away the throat issue, for which I am eternally grateful, but none of the other symptoms. However, none of the other leading brands helped me in any way for approx 30 years, so this is a win, nevertheless. Based on this, I would recommend it."

Another flagged that despite being labelled as non-drowsy, they did experience some drowsiness.
