Jannik Sinner provides relationship update after being snapped with new girl | Tennis | Sport

Jannik Sinner insisted he is still playing singles off the court as he prepared for his return to Grand Slam tennis at the French Open. The world No.1 reached the final of the Rome Masters in his first tournament back from a three-month doping ban.

And before his home event, the Italian revealed he was “not in a relationship” and no longer dating WTA star Anna Kalinskaya or seeing Russian model Lara Leito. Sinner has recently been photographed with a Danish influencer in Copenhagen.

But the 23-year-old smiled: “No, no, there was no girl. I had just some business with a couple of photo shootings there. That's it. Nothing else.”

The top seed dropped only one set on his way to the Rome final and had two set points against Carlos Alcaraz in the opening set of the final before losing to the Spaniard. The world’s top two are scheduled to meet again in the final here on June 8.

Asked about his physical condition before a Grand Slam, Sinner said: “It's going to be different. I felt in Rome that we have had some stats from that tournament where some were good; some were not where I want to be. And that's exactly I felt on court. So there is a lot of room to improve.

“Hopefully we are on time to make small changes for here. There are no miracles, no? I need some time. Matches are different than practice sessions.

“But yeah, we are working hard, trying to reach the physical level I would like to, and how I would like to feel on court.

“We have seen a couple of things where I can improve, and Grand Slams are just different. You know, you have to be mentally ready, physically too trying to use the right energy. It's all about being consistent and solid.

“But best-of-five is going to be a great test for me, trying to understand where I am.m Yeah, let's see how my body will respond here. Yeah, let's see if I can do that.”

Sinner was given a hero’s welcome in Rome but he will face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the opening round and a French wildcard in second round if he progresses.

“It's definitely going to be different,” he said. “I know that. But I don't think they have something against me, no? It's right that they support the players who are from here, who are local here. It's the same when I play against an American player in US Open. So it's normal. “I got an amazing atmosphere in Rome because I'm Italian. It's right that the player who play in this city or country, that they got more support.

“So I know that. Last year I played also against some French players here. So I know a little bit what to expect. Different moment because whatever happened happened. So let's see. I cannot answer that question.”
