Carrots will be delicious and full of flavour in 3 minutes without using a pan![]() Forget air fryers, slow cookers and even saucepans - there’s one quick, easy, healthy and mess-free way to cook the tasty and delicious carrots without any such trendy, fashionable appliances. Yes, it’s the microwave, the little box sat in every kitchen which seems to have developed a reputation for being looked down on by snobby chefs thumbing their nose at the poor underloved appliance. But microwaves are actually hugely versatile kitchen appliances and can save you time and money in cooking all sorts of foods including fried eggs, bacon, scrambled eggs and now, carrots. And to make microwave carrots in just 3 minutes, you don’t need any fancy equipment or kitchen gadgets: just a bowl, a plate, some carrots and the microwave. It’s a cooking method I use all the time, but if you won’t take my word for it, it’s also been shared by Its A Veg World After All. "It says: "Microwave carrots are a quick and easy side dish that can pair with nearly any meal. The carrots steam quickly and only need to rest for a minute before you can add seasonings like butter, honey, or herbs. "Cut the carrots into ½-inch coins. Place the coins in a medium bowl (that’s microwave-safe) and add 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup water (1 tablespoon per cup [125g] of carrots). “Place a microwave-safe plate on top of the bowl. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, then let stand for 1 minute. Carefully remove the plate to assess doneness. Return the bowl covered with the plate to the microwave and cook for additional time if desired. “Drain the carrots. Add seasonings as desired. Enjoy!” It doesn't just stop at carrots mind, as you can also make microwave broccoli, sweetcorn, peas and various other vegetables, quicker, cheaper and more easily than firing up a big gas hob.
