Natural item that's completely free removes carpet dents in moments

There's a lot to take into consideration when it comes to decorating a home, especially if you’re starting from scratch. Over the years, it’s likely that the table you decided to place in the middle of the room for convenience has become more of an annoyance, blocking off the room. Or you might have finally decided to upgrade that sofa you inherited for something more comfortable, meaning it’s time to move it around.

Moving furniture around or investing in new pieces can quickly transform a room, but heavy furniture that’s stood in the same place for years can also leave behind ugly marks, especially on the carpet. If your dining room table or sofa has taken its rightful place for a good few years, chances are it’s left its mark on your carpet, and these dents can be pretty stubborn. While steaming your carpet can help encourage the fibres to return to their original state and improve the appearance of your carpet, this can also be quite the process.

With it being the perfect time of year for a spring clean, shifting furniture around and maybe even getting rid of some pieces, there’s an easy way to get rid of stubborn carpet dents that you don’t need to whip the iron out for and is totally free.

Many of the best cleaning products are often made simply using a few household ingredients — from lemon to baking soda and vinegar, home improvements are often made so much simpler by using everyday items, and this method is no different.

Ice cubes are totally free and something many of us already have lying around in the freezer. While they’re more commonly used to keep drinks cool, they can also be used for tidying around the home, and are particularly effective on pesky carpet dents.

The cold blocks of water simply work by rehydrating the carpet fibres that have become compressed under the weight of heavy pieces of furniture, and all you have to do is leave them to melt.

Once they’ve completely melted, which can take up to 30 minutes or longer for larger cubes, or how many you need to use depending on how severe the dent is, you can go ahead and blot excess moisture with a towel.

Go over the dent with a spoon or soft brush to help fluff the fibres back into place, and once dry, your carpet should be free of dents. Avoid scrubbing too hard, as this can lead to fibres drying oddly and being noticeably out of place.
