Stains can be removed from clothes and carpets using one natural household item

Stains can be removed from clothes and carpets using on natural household item. Natural stain removers can be found in common household items. They avoid the harsh chemicals of some commercial laundry stain removers and are often less expensive.

The Spruce shared seven things you’re likely to have in your house that can help save a stained item. One stands out in particular: talcum powder. Talcum powder, baby powder, kitchen cornstarch, or plain white chalk are wonderful natural treatments for absorbing oily stains. If you apply them quickly after a spill, they can even remove stains.

Blot any excess oil with a paper towel to prevent it from spreading, then simply sprinkle the stain liberally with baby powder, talcum powder, or cornstarch. You can also rub the area with a stick of white chalk.

Allow it to sit on the stain for at least 10 minutes to absorb the oil, then brush away. Then, wash the garment following the instructions on the item’s care label.

Another household item that has stain-removing properties is salt. If you have a red wine spill, sprinkle it liberally with table salt. Use the cheapest salt you can find.

Let it absorb the liquid, and then brush away before you wash the item. Remember, if you don't wash it out, salt can leave white stains on your fabric.

Lemon and lime juice can also be useful due to the acetic acid. They can remove yellow underarm stains and rust stains. Put a cup of juice in with your white wash or make a paste of lemon juice, baking soda, and water and scrub the stain.

Do not use lemon or lime juice on coloured fabrics. If you spill some juice on a piece of coloured, be sure to wash it quickly before it causes discolouration.
