PS5 fans can play another iconic Xbox release this summer | Gaming | Entertainment

Iconic Xbox release Gears of War has been announced for a PlayStation 5 release this summer.

Gears of War Reloaded is a premium remaster of the original Gears of War, featuring enhanced visuals and improved performance.

The game has been given an August 26 release date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Needless to say, it will be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.

In addition to the title coming to Xbox Game Pass on day-one, Gears of War Reloaded will be available as a free upgrade for owners of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

In order to take advantage of the deal, you'll need to have purchased Gears of War Ultimate Edition before 4pm BST UK time on May 5.

As for the new features, Gears of War Reloaded features 4K resolution, 60 frames-per-second in campaign and 120 frames-per-second in multiplayer.

That's on top of high dynamic range (HDR) support, as well as Dolby Vision and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos, not to mention 3D Spatial Audio.

It also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), contains newly remastered 4K textures, enhanced post-processing visual effects, improved shadows and reflections, and super resolution with improved anti-aliasing.

Taking advantage of the SSD drives in the Xbox Series X and PS5, fans will be pleased to hear that there will be zero loading screens throughout the campaign.

Needless to say, Gears of War Reloaded also comes with all of the post-release DLC from the Ultimate Edition, making this the definitive version of the game.

With Gears of War Reloaded coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, the game will also support cross-platform multiplayer between devices.

Fans playing on the PS5 won't need a Microsoft account for cross-platform multiplayer, but will need to sign in for cross-platform progression.

Cross-platform progression means you can start playing on one system, and continue the game from where you left off on another.
