How to remove limescale from shower screens fast without scrubbing

Glass shower screens are, in a lot of ways, superior to their shower curtain counterparts. They do a better job of keeping water off the floor, look better and can’t be accidentally ripped off the hooks. However shower screens can often become coated with limescale and soap scum.

A combination of these can make your shower appear more like a greenhouse than the luxurious sanctuary you had hoped for. Taking to her Instagram page @thecosyneutralhome, Aidy shared her “one product” she reaches for when cleaning her shower screen - white vinegar.

For a cost-effective cleaning solution that’s just as good as and sometimes better than expensive commercial products, white vinegar is a great option.

Its acidic nature means it works great at dissolving soap residue and grime, and to top that off, it’s environmentally friendly too.

In the video, Aidy sprayed white vinegar over the shower glass and used a microfibre cloth to buff it in before giving it a rinse with the shower head and finishing off by using a squeegee.

While spraying and wipping the product of right away will prove effective for slight limescale and soap scum, for tougher stains the acidic liquid will need to be left on for a few minutes.

According to the cleaning experts at Molly Maid, you should start by wetting the screen with water before spraying white vinegar and completely saturating the glass.

They said: “Allow it to soak for at least 10 minutes—longer if there’s serious buildup.” After, use a sponge to wipe the area down before going in with a microfibre cloth to give the screen a “streak-free shine”.

Taking to the comments section of Aidy’s post, fellow cleaning fans shared their thought on this vinegar tip. @kristenwhite1995 wrote: “Can’t go wrong with white vinegar, great job.”

@countonher wrote: “Can’t beat white vinegar on glass. Finished with a glass polishing cloth for me.”

@dajachomeinteriors commented: “Fab job. Looks so clean.” @home.byemily said: “I literally love this product. It’s so good.”
