How to remove grease from ovens fast without vinegar or scrubbing

Oven cleaning can be an absolute nightmare, often demanding heaps of elbow grease, and still, achieving that perfect shine is quite the challenge. Spills and fallen food particles can become baked onto your oven’s interior. Sadly, most traditional oven cleaners are filled with highly toxic chemicals that can be hazardous to inhale.

For those dreadful “baked-on grease marks”, there is one household staple that is “simple” yet “the most effective natural oven cleaner” — and it isn’t white vinegar. After experimenting with eight different oven-cleaning home remedies, the experts at Soapranos Cleaning Services have discovered that a mix of baking soda and water delivers the “best results” for tackling the inside of greasy ovens.

To use this hack, just mix three tablespoons of water with two tablespoons of baking soda until you get an even mixture.

Slather this onto the interior of the oven and wait for 20 minutes, then “wipe it off clean with ease”.

The experts explained: “Baking soda and water is one of the easiest cleaning solutions you can make and actually has better results than the ones that rely on white vinegar as the primary cleaning ingredient.

“While white vinegar can be a good cleaning agent in other cases, its acid level isn’t quite potent enough to dissolve the tough grime that's typical in most ovens.”

What makes the baking soda solution so impressively effective is the inherent strength of this everyday kitchen item.

The cleaning pros shared that “baking soda is incredibly absorbent, which is why it works so well for absorbing unwanted odours in refrigerators.

“Baking soda can absorb stubborn grease and help loosen the stuck-on burnt debris when used inside an oven.”

Although using lemon juice to eliminate grease from ovens is common advice, these experts beg to differ.

According to their findings, “lemon juice struggles to make a significant impact” on the grime within an oven’s interior.

While the citric acid in lemon juice can be effective for cleaning countertops and bathtubs, it simply “does not have the power to break down the stuck-on grime” found baked onto the inside of ovens.
