Pasta flavour will be ‘enhanced’ by adding this one ingredient

Pasta is beloved across the world for its versatility, affordability, convenience and the sense of comfort it produces. This staple kitchen item goes with an array of ingredients and sauces but some like to keep it simple by whipping up butter pasta.

The simplicity of butter pasta makes it the perfect mid-week dinner as it is quick and easy to make and requires minimal ingredients making it a go-to for many. Households across the UK adore the melted butter which coats the pasta, creating a silky and satisfying texture. However, those who want to make next-level butter pasta should try adding one ingredient that is found in nearly every kitchen across the globe.

Food expert Myo Quinn recommends adding Nutritional yeast which is beloved by many for its cheesy nutty flavour, enhancing your simple dish which takes just 10 minutes to prepare.

Adding just one heaped tablespoon of nutritional yeast to the melted butter will give your pasta a cheesy flavour without even having to open the parmesan.

She says: “Whenever a recipe calls for parmesan, as butter pasta often does, I add a heaping tablespoon of nutritional yeast.

“It melts beautifully into the butter and adds a similar boost of funky cheese flavor with the added benefit of being shelf-stable and a fraction of the price.”

Myo recommends stirring in one heaping tablespoon of nutritional yeast with some black pepper when the butter has taken on a lightly golden colour. Add the yeast when you have taken the skillet

When the pasta is cooked scoop it out with tongs or a strainer and add it to the skillet.

Myo says: "Stir to coat the pasta with the butter. Scoop out about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water and stir it into the pasta until luxuriously silky. You can taste and add more salt if you'd like, but I rarely do because the pasta water is plenty salty."
