Caitriona Balfe, famed for her role in the Starz historical drama Outlander, has stunned fans with a new character that is a far cry from the show's setting.

Whilst Balfe and her co-star Sam Heughan—who played Claire and Jamie Fraser—have just finished shooting for the final season of Outlander, they're not taking any breaks. The duo is already diving into fresh ventures outside of the series.

Irish talent Balfe has undergone a dramatic transformation for her new part, acting beside Hollywood's Rami Malek in the thrilling film, The Amateur.

The movie, adapted from Robert Littell's bestselling book, features Malek as Charlie Heller, a CIA analyst whose life is upended after his spouse Sarah (played by Rachel Brosnahan) falls victim to a terror plot.

Determined to avenge her death, Charlie embarks on a renegade mission to find and eliminate those behind the act, despite his inexperience with firearms.

While Balfe's specific contribution to the story is shrouded in secrecy, anticipation surges among fans who were impressed by her Russian-accented role in this contemporary thriller.

Bolstered by excitement from her fanbase, she shared a trailer for The Amateur, prompting moviegoers to flock to the cinemas.
