British couple found dead at home in New Zealand as police investigate | World | News

A British couple have tragically been discovered dead in their New Zealand home. The alarm was raised by concerned family members, leading police to the property in Roseneath, a coastal area of Wellington. The pair, believed to be in their late 30s or early 40s, were found lifeless on Monday.

The couple, who are thought to leave behind a son not living with them, have been remembered fondly by neighbours. They were reportedly "passionate about being in New Zealand and giving their family the experience of living here". The cause of their deaths remains unclear at this time , reports The Mirror.

Neighbour Paul Prestige described the couple as "very friendly people" who often hosted dinner parties. Their landlord paid tribute, saying: "He was a clever, caring, charming man. She was vibrant, kind, intelligent and both of them made friends wherever they went".

The landlord added: "They were both absolutely wonderful human beings. Both they and their family lived life to the absolute full and were always planning or doing amazing adventures. They were both such positive and incredible parents, friends, and members of many communities. We send our love and condolences to their family and friends."

An ongoing investigation into the deaths of a British couple in New Zealand has reassured locals that they are not at risk. Haley Ryan, from the New Zealand Police, stated: "I want to provide assurance that there is no ongoing risk to the Roseneath community."

The authorities have yet to disclose further details about the couple, including their UK origins and when they relocated. Roseneath, a popular suburb with overseas residents, boasts a significant foreign-born population. According to the 2020 census, 34.6% of Roseneath's inhabitants were born abroad, compared to New Zealand's national average of 27.1%.
