Sergio Perez has put a new deadline for his future to be resolved after being axed by Red Bull and left without a seat for the 2025 Formula One season. The Mexican driver spent four years with Christian Horner's outfit and claimed second and third place finishes in the Drivers' Championship.

But with several current teams looking to the future for their offseason hires, rather than the experience that 35-year-old Perez brings, the Mexican driver has been forced to watch from the outside looking in to begin the campaign.

He has witnessed Red Bull make a mistake over his replacement, with Liam Lawson initially picked to drive alongside Max Verstappen, only to be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda after two races.

And Perez does have an eye on a return to the sport, but is not likely to entertain any opportunities beyond September of this year.

"I have six months," Perez told Prodynamics. "I've given myself six months to see what options I have and make a decision about what the next step in my career is. The door is open in many places.

"Right now I have the opportunity to decide for myself what I want with my career. What's going to happen in the future is important, so I want to give myself the time and space to make the best decision."

Meanwhile RacingNews365 claim that there are three ventures for Perez to go down, should he wish to remain in motorsport. He could secure a return to F1, or that does not materialise then other competitions would be knocking on his door.

Perez could try his hand at Formula E or the World Endurance Championship, where he would not be short on offers if no F1 seat becomes available.

The likeliest current F1 avenue for Perez would be a team entering the competition from 2026, Cadillac, who are searching for two drivers before they make their entry.

Perez is already reportedly in talks with Cadillac, who are not aiming for race wins in their first season but hope to challenge for podiums, with the knowledge that they are starting from scratch compared to their rivals.

The former Red Bull star has the know-how to navigate F1 and could prove to be a very valuable asset, but Cadillac have been warned that he won't be available forever.
