Prince Andrew update as expert says 'he fears worst is out there' | Royal | News

Prince Andrew could be set for "further embarrassment" as files related to Jeffrey Epstein are released.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the first tranche of documents that were released by the US Department of Justice yesterday turned out to largely be old files. The publication also revealed that more are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Spencer Kuvin, a Florida-based lawyer, said Andrew, 65, should be "concerned" by the release of the files. Spencer represented nine Jeffrey Epstein victims.

Speaking about Andrew, historian and commentator Alexander Larman said: "[Prince] Andrew thinks that the worst is already out there, but maybe it isn't."

Author Phil Dampier said the Duke of York's association with Jeffrey Epstein will "haunt him forever" and any mention of his name in any further files will cause "another hammer blow to any hopes he has of a comeback".

Prince Andrew acknowledged that he was friends with Epstein. However, he vehemently denies allegations that he sexually abused trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre. She alleged that Andrew engaged in sexual activity with her on three occasions.

Speaking of Andrew's relationship with Epstein, Mr Larman added: "What I would say is Epstein and Andrew's relationship has been priced in for some time now.

"Unless there is proof of wrongdoing, I don't think there is anything that we are going to find out from the files about the Duke that is particularly surprising or shocking. It's all priced in."

He added: [There will be] further embarrassment, a further reminder as if there needed to be that he was involved in poor circumstances with a disputable man."

Mr Dampier also added: "His association with Epstein will haunt him forever. He made a fatal mistake to continue see him after he had been convicted and should never have stayed with him again. Any mention of his name is another hammer blow to any hopes he has of a comeback."
