This pretty part of Cornwall is home to one of the UK’s best pubs, so naturally the town's loved by Brits after a staycation. New research by holidaycottages.co.uk has found the best pubs across the country, which have been analysed by experts. The study included Tripadvisor ratings, average sunshine hours, whether the pub has a beer garden and beer ratings to conclude a winner.

St Austell in Cornwall is home to Hicks Bar which has taken top spot for best pub with glowing reviews. Located in the St Austell Brewery’s Visitor Centre, this pub scored highly across the board. You’ll find it just 300 metres from the town’s railway station, it’s an easy spot to get to and a great place to enjoy a drink.

The research showed that ‘Best pub near me’ is searched 33,100 times per month and ‘beer garden’ is searched 60,500 times in the UK, making pub ratings important for visitors. A good pub with great grub and perfect pints is quintessential to any British holiday - and a beer garden in the sun is the cherry on top.

St Austell offers a blend of natural beauty and rich history, making it an ideal holiday destination.

Visitors can explore the iconic Eden Project, stroll through the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and enjoy the charm of Charlestown's Georgian harbour, all within easy reach of the town.

The pub scored an outstanding five out of five on TripAdvisor ratings and boasts 4.2 hours of average daily sunlight across the year, making it the highest rated pub on the list.

The Brewing Experience tour it offers will delight even the most discerning beer connoisseur, clear from its high beer rating of 3.55, while the Friday night Brewery Beats keeps live music fans coming back for more.

With seasonal beers brewed with hops from around the globe, you can expect American and Australian-style brews alongside Cornwall’s finest.

At Hick’s Bar, you can expect traditional English pub grub along with American favourites, such as pancakes and stacked nachos, and of course, a selection of the finest Cornish pasties.

A trip to St Austell isn't complete without a visit to the iconic Hicks Bar which has become known by visitors for its outstanding reputation.

“There's nothing that Baz doesn't know about brewing beer and you can sample/taste loads of beers, some of which are delicious. Thoroughly recommend this tour.”

“It was great to hear the early beginnings of the brewery and to see the whole process of beer making from beginning to end.
