While it's well-documented that we should all wear SPF daily, layering a separate sunscreen over your usual moisturiser doesn't always go well. I'm always on the hunt for a non-sticky, non-greasy daily SPF, and while there are some effective, affordable options on the market, a product that promises to do both in one hit is hard to resist.
So when I discovered Medik8’s Advanced Day Ultimate Protect SPF 50, a sunscreen-day cream hybrid, it stood out. It's expensive, with an RRP of £59, but if you do fancy trying it out, now is a good time – you can snap it up with 20% off at LookFantastic.com, a saving of nearly £12.
The SPF30 and SPF50 versions of the day cream are discounted, and the Lookfantastic deal means both creams are cheaper than on the Medki8 website (where they remain full price).
I've put it to the test: it's light and silky—somewhere between a cream and a gel—and sinks in fast without leaving that dreaded white cast. There is no pilling, shine, or weird SPF smell. Just plump, hydrated skin that looks glowy but not greasy.
I've worn it under foundation on a hot, sweaty day, and it doesn't budge. It covers UVA, UVB, infrared, blue light, and pollution, which basically means it’s working overtime while I get on with my day (or sit in front of a screen). Plus, it contains skin-loving extras like squalane and photolyase, which is a fancy enzyme that helps repair UV damage.
I am not the only fan, with one reviewer on Lookfantastic saying of the Ultimate Protect: “I love it and keep repurchasing. It is so moisturising, anti-ageing and has SPF 50! Great under makeup. A bit expensive, but I always buy it when it is on offer!”
One customer noted that it didn't work for them: "Not the best for sensitive skin - irritated my eyes."
Another was more effusive: "Great product and feels very expensive when using. Works fine under makeup and not too greasy. Doesn't turn white when applied either."
