An African country that's loved by Brits for its great weather and iconic attractions is set for a tourism boom. A recent report shows the nation has the most hotels planned, constructed or prepared for opening across the whole continent.

According to the 2025 Hotel Chain Development Pipelines in Africa report by W Hospitality Group, there are 577 hotels and 104,444 rooms in the pipeline. This 13.3% increase on the year before comes as a number of hotel brands make partnerships with 42 African countries, including the Comoros and Somalia. However, the latest report shows that Egypt accounts for 32.5% of new rooms this year.

As reported by Business Insider Africa, this is up from 28% last year and four times the amount of rooms as Morocco. Meanwhile, only five hotel agreements have been made in Nigeria for this year.

A total of 143 new hotels are in the pipeline for Egypt. This equates to an additional 34,000 rooms across the beloved holiday destination.

In 2024, Egypt welcomed a record-breaking 15.7 million tourists. This was a slight increase from around 15 million the year before.

Egypt is popular as it offers a range of experiences for holidaymakers. It benefits from a rich history and culture, with sites such as the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor's temples and the Valley of the Kings considered as must-see attractions.

The River Nile also offers a great way to explore the country as it passes towns and historical sites. Tourists can use it to travel between Luxor and Aswan, with amazing views during the journey.

For more active tourists, Egypt offers diving, snorkelling and desert adventures. The Red Sea is great for vibrant coral reefs and water sports.

There are a number of bustling markets and modern attractions in the capital city Cairo. It also has a vibrant nightlife for younger holidaymakers.

Egypt has a number of five-star reviews on TripAdvisor. Despite some concerns about safety in the country, most visitors agree that it is tourist-friendly.
