Hollywood actor Will Hutchins has died at the age of 94. The actor passed away due to respiratory failure at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, on Monday.

He was best known for his portrayal of Tom Brewster, the wholesome sharpshooter and frontier lawyer, in the ABC series Sugarfoot. Hutchins starred as the character over 69 episodes between 1957 and 1961.

Reflecting on his legacy, his wife Barbara Torres told The Hollywood Reporter. “He was hysterical, everyone loved him,” she said. “He had a great sense of humor, and it never gave up on him."

Born in Los Angeles in 1930, Hutchins served in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean War before he enrolled as a graduate student at UCLA to study cinema arts.

He made his onscreen debut on a 1956 episode of the Warner Bros. anthology series Conflict.

The veteran actor also starred as Woody Banner on the 1966-67 NBC sitcom Hey, Landlord, created by Garry Marshall and Jerry Belson. Two years later, he landed the role of Dagwood Bumstead in the CBS comedy series Blondie.

On the big screen, Hutchins starred opposite Elvis Presley in the musicals Spinout (1966) and Clambake (1967). In the latter, he lip-synced a duet with the late singer in the comic number Who Needs Money?.

Opening up about sharing the screen with Presley, Hutchins said: "Working with Elvis was kinda like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, leaving a sepia-colored farm and entering the three-strip Technicolor world of Oz. It was just magnificent."

He added: "Elvis couldn’t have been a nicer guy, one of my favorite actors that I ever worked with. He was so natural and so much fun."

He went on to play small roles in in Magnum Force (1973), The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington (1977) and Roar (1981). Hutchins swapped Hollywood for the circus, working as a ringmaster in a Los Angeles clown troop.

Hutchins has a daughter with his first wife Chrissie Burnett, whom he was married to from 1965 until 1969. He tied the knot with Torres in 1988 after reportedly dating for one year.
