With a list of a staggering 3,028 billionaires, Forbes has recorded more billionaires than ever in its 2025 annual ranking of the richest people in the world. Despite losing billions following the Tesla boycott and the drop in Tesla shares, Elon Musk is still the richest person in the world as of March 2025 with a net worth of about £264.7 billion. Musk has had a massive 75% net worth increase in just one year.
Forbes attributed this growth to rocket and spacecraft producer, SpaceX, his new AI company xAI, as well as a rise in Tesla stock despite the company's recent share plunge. Mark Zuckerberg came in second with a net worth of about £163.9 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos at £163.1 billion and Larry Ellison with about £145.7 billion.
The new US president has also seen an increase in wealth in the last year, according to the Forbes 39th annual World's Billionaires list.
Although Donald Trump owed millions in legal penalties, his wealth doubled to about £3.95 billion which was attributed to his social media companym Truth Social, and his cryptocurrency ventures.
The United States has the most billionaires, followed by China and India, according to Forbes.
The magazine said it calculated the long list using March 7 exhange rates and stock prices.
