The Caribbean is known for its white sandy beaches with bright blue waters. But did you know you can get a similar experience without leaving the country?
Located on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Luskentyre Beach is known for its similarly stunning white sand and turquoise waters, and is often praised as one of the most beautiful coastlines in the UK – and even Europe.
Luskentyre is one of the largest and most spectacular beaches on Harris, and has been named one of the UK’s best beaches in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
Because of this, it's no wonder that locals are proud to call their island their home, as they get to keep their beach their own away from tourists for most part of the year.
Taking to social media, a woman named Caz shared a video to show just how much the Scottish beach looks like it belongs in the Caribbean.
"Scotland? Or the Caribbean?" she wrote on the TikTok video as she was seen filming her recent day at the beach, which included several shots of them diving into the clear water.
The group of friends were also seen playing football on the beach before getting back into the water for another swim.
The Isle of Harris has recently been lucky to enjoy some nice weather – they have had several weeks of sunshine and warmer temperatures. This has meant locals have been able to enjoy the beach before tourists arrive in the peak of summer.
Several people quickly took to the comment section of the video, with many in disbelief that the beach is in the UK.
"This is not Scotland," one person bluntly wrote, while another person asked: "Where the hell are you finding beaches like this in Scotland."
However, the sceptics were quickly proven wrong, as many people who had previously visited the beach shared their experiences.
"Luv [sic] Luskentyre beach it’s gorgeous xx," one person wrote, as a second person said: "Scotland! I live in Scotland and me and family went there at one point! Gorgeous place!"
"Just remember, that water is cold enough to send you into shock if you're not careful," one person warned. Meanwhile another person said: "Might look like Caribbean but temp is far from it."
According to Hidden Scotland, late spring and summer are the best times to pay a visit to Luskentyre Beach, not only for the weather but also for the landscape as the 'lingering light' creates beautiful views that are hard to beat.
