Reality star Kim Kardashian had her £3 million engagement ring - a gift from then-husband Kanye West - stolen in 2016, along with other precious gems of huge financial and sentimental value. The heist was worth an estimated £8.49 million - and, terrified for her life, Kim revealed the words she screamed to save herself as she felt a gun on her back, she told a Paris court on Tuesday.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who achieved billionaire status five years after the Paris break-in, was convinced she would be raped and killed after she was violently shoved backwards on the bed and bound by her hands and feet with tape. Realising she had no chance of making a run for it as she'd originally hoped, she screamed: "I have babies and need to live!" She explained to the court today (May 13): "I was certain that they would shoot me. That’s when I realised I should just do whatever they say."
She relived the incident, recalling: "The robe opens up and everything is exposed on my bottom half. I was certain that was the moment [the gunman] was going to rape me."
Kim continued that she was praying silently for her life as he pulled her towards him - and even after he asked for her ring, she was still unsure exactly what his intentions were.
She frantically asked the concierge at the Paris location where she'd been staying: "Please translate to them that I have babies, I have to make it home."
Moments later, the group, who had been branded the "grandpa robbers" on account of their older ages, fled, leaving Kim alone in the room.
Precious items, including a watch gifted to the reality star by her late father when she was in her teens, were lost forever.
She was in tears as she recalled how she managed to free herself from the ties and find her friend Simone, who had been restrained in another part of the building.
Kim is now too traumatised to fall asleep at home until all jewellery has been removed from the house and transferred to a safety deposit box - and she still sometimes breaks down in tears when she hears someone silently climbing the stairs.
"I never thought that we were ever not safe before this," she exclaimed, confirming that the awful experience changed her life entirely.
After doing "extensive therapy", Kim arrived back in the city where the crime had taken place to confront the robbers face-to-face - and her mum and manager Kris Jenner was by her side.
During her court appearance, Kim told her robbers, "I forgive you" during the emotional testimony.
