Ranvir Singh missed her regular spot on Lorraine this Friday (9 May), leading to a last-minute host shake-up. Viewers expecting Ranvir were surprised to see Andi Peters filling in, as he quickly stepped up after Ranvir's sudden illness caused her to withdraw from the day's show.

The programme opened with Andi extending his best wishes to an unwell Ranvir, expressing his "get well soon" sentiments directly to her, though additional information on her condition remained undisclosed. Ranvir herself has yet to comment on her absence.

As the show began, Andi didn't hesitate to address the switch, stating: "First thing's first, I've just got to say get well soon to Ranvir, who can't be here today."

Adding a touch of humor to the unexpected situation, he quipped, "Which is why they've drafted in a man in a bright orange shirt, just to make sure you're awake this morning!" He continued with a warm, "Get well soon Ranvir, we send you all of our love."

Juggling multiple roles on ITV's various morning programmes, Andi also disclosed that his appearance was not only last-minute but came straight after he had returned from travelling, reports Edinburgh Live.

Throughout the episode, Andi took charge, engaging with singer Calum Scott in conversation, and joining forces with fashion guru Mark Heyes, who dished out the trendiest summer fashion advice. Royal commentator Russell Myers also came on board to discuss VE Day commemorations within the Royal Family.

In addition, the episode featured advice on how to sever toxic friendships and invited Glynis Barber to share insights on optimal skincare.

Lorraine Kelly usually appears on the show from Monday to Thursday, with either Ranvir Singh or Christine Lampard covering Fridays.

Lorraine was notably missing from her ITV show this Monday (5 May), as Sian Welby stepped in to fill her shoes. Lorraine had previously disclosed that she would be taking time off following a surgical procedure.

The well-known presenter reassured fans on social media: "Just wanted to let you know that I'm having a wee procedure today. I've not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out."

She further comforted viewers by saying: "It's purely preventative, it's going to be with keyhole surgery which is incredible. I'm being very well looked after and I'll obviously see you really soon."
