A source reportedly close to David Hasselhoff has voiced concerns over the health of the Baywatch legend, 72, saying he's "living on borrowed time". Spotted this Monday in a state of compromised mobility at Cancun airport, and then struggling through LAX, the star was supported by his younger wife, Hayley, after their Mexico vacation. These concerning signs come in the wake of his former spouse Pamela Bach’s tragic suicide, leaving ‘The Hoff’ and kin “deeply saddened”.

Wearing a striped shirt, casual slacks and a cap, Hasselhoff managed a thumbs-up despite leaning heavily on Hayley, his wife of seven years. An insider shared with the Mail an unsettling update on the actor’s long-term well-being, saying: “David is living on borrowed time and has lived hard. He had a life that people could only dream of but he also spent decades self-medicating through alcohol and other substances, which he does regret", reports the Mirror.

The source suggested even in sobriety, his health has been deteriorating due to “decades of alcoholism”. They cite his advanced age and numerous serious medical interventions, including a defibrillator implant, surmising, “He knows that every surgery could be the last.”.

David's representative confirmed that he was "fine" and simply waiting for knee surgery, explaining the reason for his wheelchair: "He's doing fine and actually they were returning from a great vacation in Cancun.

"He is scheduled to have knee surgery next week, hence the wheelchair."

David's struggles with alcohol have been widely reported as contributing to the breakdown of his marriage to Pamela, who took her own life at the age of 61 in her Hollywood Hills home on March 5.

Paramedics arriving at the scene found that she had passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Through a spokesperson, David, who has two daughters with the actress, expressed that his family was 'deeply saddened' following Pamela's death.

Pamela had openly stated that David's drinking was a primary factor in their separation, alleging "drink was taking over his life".

The duo originally crossed paths on the set of David's hit show Knight Rider in 1986. At that time, David was still wedded to his first wife and co-star Catherine Hickland, whereas Pamela was romantically linked to a comedian.

In 1989, David and Catherine ended their marriage. That same year, he reconnected with Pamela on the set of Baywatch, where she had secured a minor role.

After a whirlwind nine-month romance, Pamela fell pregnant - prompting them to hasten their nuptials before ultimately parting ways in 2006.
