The UK has a number of popular coffeehouse chains that are loved by many. Some are established in the country and others are international. Of course, as with most things, people tend to have their preferences, but coffee lovers on Reddit decided to put some of the nation's favourite coffee chains up against one another to find out which one comes on top. User Volitan86 questioned Reddit users about their choice between three major coffeehouses in the UK.

A number of people flocked to the comments, giving their opinions on the quality of coffee served at the chain and why specific ones are the best. Some mentioned Costa Coffee, which has 2,671 stores in the UK, making it the country's largest coffee chain. Very few gave praise to the renowned American chain Starbucks, which has 1,345 branches dotted around the country. Instead, it was one that is much smaller than the two that Reddit users commended.

A number of coffee drinkers gave their props to Caffe Nero in response to user Volitan86's question of "Starbucks, Costa or Caffe Nero, what's your choice?" The coffeehouse is home to only 625 stores, making the chain much smaller in comparison to its counterparts.

However, its size doesn't hold it back as those online say out of the three, the coffeehouse company established in 1997 is the best beats Costa Coffee and Starbucks when it comes to its brews.

Apparently, there was no other right choice, according to user TheGreatBatsby, who said: "Obviously Nero is superior." Another user, added: "Caffe Nero, one shot only."

Similar to the other larger chain, as well as a good brew, Caffe Nero sells a number of products including various hot and cold drinks, and both savoury and sweet goods. But apparently to many there is something about this particular coffeehouse that stands out.

User Neo_Spork, who seems to know a thing or two about coffee, also put Caffe Nero at number one out of three.

The user said: "I live in Cheltenham, which is apparently the unofficial coffee capital of Britain - we've got around 40 coffee shops in the town centre alone, including 5 Costas, 2 Neros and 3 Soho Coffee. Mostly I just go to the one with the friendliest staff.

"Out of the 3 listed, Nero has the best coffee, but it's too strong for some people's taste."
