Archewell's new Chief of Communications, Meredith Maines, bears striking similarities to the Sussexes' personal lives, following her appointment to the post three months ago. Her hiring comes after a string of staff departures for the Sussexes' team, as 19 staff members have left since the couple were married in 2018.

"I'm honored to partner with Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to highlight the amazing work they are doing through Archewell, their broader business portfolio, and nonprofit work," Maines said in a statement upon hiring. Living just miles apart in California, similarities include Ms Maines sharing Meghan's history of working in the entertainment industry, and how she often advocates for women balancing busy careers and family life.

She proudly speaks out about being a wife and mother, like Meghan, and often supports up the Duchess' achievements on social media.

Posting a link to a New York Times article titled 'Inside Meghan's Real Kitchen, Away From the Cameras', Ms Maines said: "This is what they call a chef's kiss!" A week later, linking to a Fortune's article Ms Maines wrote: "Thanks for capturing Meghan's startup founder life so brilliantly."

The communications chief attended Stanford University between 2001 and 2005, where she studied English Literature and Music Composition, whereas Meghan Markle studied at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, with a double major in theatre and international studies.

Ms Maines was on the Stanford Equestrian Team, suggesting a love of horses. Posting a horse and dog emoji on her social media bio, the comms chief is still implying an interest in horses today, showcasing a further similarity with Meghan whose husband Harry enjoys playing Polo.

Not only has the mother of two, Ms Maines, has also taken on a second role of chief of comms for the Duchess' new lifestyle brand, As Ever, she faced scrutiny this weekend after it was revealed she was behind Harry's BBC interview, in which he launched another scathing attack on his family and spoke about his security arrangements in the UK.

In the sit-down, Harry said he wanted to reconcile with his family, while alleging his ill father, King Charles, was not speaking with him.

Prince Harry received a huge blow on Friday as he lost his long-running legal battle with the Home Office over his UK security arrangements.

In the interview with the BBC that followed, Prince Harry said: "Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile."

Speaking of Friday's court ruling, Prince Harry went on to claim: "This legal action has been a last resort, but one that has uncovered shocking truths, starting with the fact that the Royal Household are key decision-makers on RAVEC and my sole representation for matters regarding my safety."

Buckingham Palace rebuked Harry's claims of an establishment stitch-up and a spokesperson said: "These issues have been examined meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion on each occasion."
